Living Wage Hawaii is seeking motivated, dynamic Government Relations Intern to join our team. Living Wage Hawaii is the campaign of a Honolulu based non-profit seeking to raise the minimum wage to a living wage.
The Government Relations Intern will work with Hawaii’s elected officials to pass legislation ensuring workers earn a living wage and coordinate with Living Wage Hawaii’s leadership team to fulfill the organization’s mission.
Essential Duties:

Communicate with legislators to promote the living wage agenda

Work with allied organizations to strategize and implement political advocacy efforts

Develop political strategy to achieve success during the 2020 legislative session

Identify potential opportunities to expand our political strength

Write opinion pieces for submission to local news outlets
Preferred Qualities:

Self-starter with a passion for raising the minimum wage to a living wage

Interest in politics and political involvement.

Excellent interpersonal skills

Strong willingness to learn and adapt

Ability to travel in the Honolulu neighborhood near the capitol
Compensation:
This is a volunteer position.
Duration:
November 2021 - April 2022.
